How and when did you first become seriously interested in art?
Art has always been at the center of my life since I was a child. Art was primarily my hobby then a series of events meant that it became a profession for me.
What artists or professionals have been your biggest influences?
As an Italian, how can I not be in love with the Great Masters Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Botticelli Caravaggio … I could go on for hours listing my favourites. These are who inspired my NeoUrbanClassic series of work.
What do you try to express in your work?
I try to recontextualize the classics and icons of our century, giving a contemporary sense and feel.
Which is more important to you, the subject of your painting or the way it is executed?
For me the subject is more important, then the technique of realization can vary with different types of medium. The important thing is the final result and above all the liking and connection of those who look at my work.
Which artistic project are you most proud of?
I’m very proud of all my work, it’s a bit like choosing which son you prefer, knowing the merits and the flaws but you love them all the same.
What memorable responses have you had to your work? Do they influence your work and process in anyway?
Many important things have happened in these years, I have met many beautiful people who have appreciated my work and this is the thing that most gratifies me! Then articles in magazines, exhibitions in galleries and now my Phil & Beth also on beer cans. It’s incredible.
What have you been up to in the last five years?
My life has changed professionally, dedicating my time to my artwork but not in everyday life. I’m always the same in the way I live and think who loves my family, old friends … and the simple things. I love having my feet firm on the ground ..
Where do you create your work?
For my digital art, I create it on my iPhone and Mac. Often while on the bus or metro or comfortably on the sofa, I usually create it in my studio.
What excites you about showcasing your artwork through ARTful and in a more corporate environment?
It’s very exciting for me working with Artful, We’ve had a great year and I hopeful the same this year with lots of projects on the horizon.
