Not forgetting Sculptor Jason Mulligan who is showcasing two of his pieces across the Berkeley Square Estate.
Jason Mulligan is an elected member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and has been involved in the carving and installation of a wide variety of public art projects across Ireland, Italy and the UK. The process of carving and the use of stone as a material has remained a necessary grounding in his search for form.
At Curzon street Jason has placed ‘The Complete Fragment’ It explores the relationship between with the idea of ‘example’, ‘sample’ and ‘pattern’ and the relationship between ‘form and surface’. By disentangling this conundrum we start to underpin ideas linking us to our geological past.
In 72 Welbeck Street we have installed ‘Growing Up Together ‘ which represents the notion of ‘psyche’ and ‘place’. Experimenting within these boundaries, Jason has employed a combination of both core drilling and carving to help realise the unique forms. The intention is for the ‘cores’ to mimic the uncovering of a hidden past while the themes of ‘sample’, ‘example’ and ‘pattern’, underpin ideas linking us to our geological past.
Both pieces are visible and can be viewed closer if required until July 2015.
